In efforts to reduce car thefts across the city, SASP HEAT units have greatly increased their usage of bait vehicles. A state purchased vehicle appealing enough to steal, but full traceable and controlled by officers. This is already proving highly effective with over 12 arrests attributed to baitcars alone.
